Questions To Ask When Deciding Between Chiropractors

Posted on

In most towns and cities, there are at least a few different chiropractors in practice. As such, choosing between them can be difficult. A good way to make your decision is to call a few different chiropractors and have a discussion with them. Ask the following questions, and you'll have an easier time deciding which chiropractor is the best one for you to see.

What problems does the chiropractor typically treat?

All chiropractors are used to treating patients with back pain, neck pain, and related ailments. However, some chiropractors also offer more specialized services for maladies like migraines, headaches, sinus congestion, and fatigue. If you suffer from one of these ailments, you're best off hiring a chiropractor who has experience treating patients with your ailment. Even if this is not the only reason you're seeing the chiropractor, you might as well get help for whatever is bothering you while you're there.

Does the chiropractor use an activator or their hands?

Some chiropractors prefer to make adjustments with a little tool called an activator. Others only use their hands to make adjustments. Many older chiropractors use their hands as this is a more traditional method that the chiropractic schools relied on for many years. Newer chiropractors may use an activator or a combination of their hands and an activator. Which is better? Well, that is mainly a matter of preference. If someone putting their hands on you makes you uncomfortable, then look for a chiropractor who uses an activator. If you find the idea of using a tool a bit odd, then look for a chiropractor who only adjusts with their hands.

Does the chiropractor accept your insurance plan?

Some chiropractors accept insurance, and others do not. Some insurance covers chiropractic care, and some do not. If your insurance plan does cover chiropractic care, then you might as well choose a chiropractor who accepts that insurance so you can save a little money. If your insurance does not cover chiropractic care, then ask each chiropractor how much they charge. Your goal is not necessarily to hire the cheapest chiropractor, but you do want to ensure you can afford the one you visit.

Deciding between chiropractors is easier when you have plenty of information to base your decision on. If you call a couple of local chiropractors and ask the questions above, you should gather the information you need to make a decision.
